Abstract
This study compared the pre-and post-test of parent-child interaction programs for children who engage in nonsocial play. The purpose of the study is to find whether the effectiveness of the program continues and to collect basic information on the characteristics of children, parents and therapists and on the implementation period for the effective application of the program. The subjects were 8 dyads of mother-child. In order to investigate the effectiveness of the parent-child interaction improvement program, tests were carried out before the implementation and after the end of the program. And then a follow up test was conducted three through six month after the termination of the program. The change in the parental attitudes failed to sustain the effectiveness of the program of the child with developmental disabilities suffering neurological problems. However, the autistic child produced better result in the follow up test than in the other test as a result of the change in the parental attitudes and the experience of positive interactions. In addition, children without disabilities became assured that they were loved after experiencing positive interactions, which in turn made them experience autonomy, helping them develop positive interpersonal skills.
